Hiya

Now ive got my bigger tyres on, ive noticed that front drivers side sticks out further than the front passenger one. Its about an inch further over. This could explain the post from a while ago about it crabbing.

Now i thought that this could be a bent panhard rod - but it looks ok. The bushes are polyurethane type and seem in good nick.

Could someone have put the wrong rod on it? Would a disco one fit a defender or are they the same length.

shot in dark, you got 8 spoke wheels on now? Are they all the same offset? I got two sets of 8 spokes and one set sticks out about 3/4 inch more, easy to mix em up.

My RRC sticks out moreon the passenger's side.  I think there's a lot of tolerance on them.

How much lift have you got on there?

There is no lift at all as far as i know..

its got old man emu heavy duty suspension on the back and normal on the front, but I think they are all standard height.

How can i check the offset of a wheel? Will it be written on it somewhere?

Dont think its bent, as the tyres wear evenly, it does not pull at all, it brakes in a straight line.

Plus, if ive managed to bend it length ways, and make it an inch longer then im a very clever boy !

On the 8 spoke wheel... the center horizontal face is welded to the circular rim.  That face can be welded at different depths inside the rim to give different offsets. So measuring that  stud hole face in relation to its position/depth to the rim's outer face (or the rims centreline) will indicate its offset. Just compare all four wheels and make sure they are all same.

If you bought the rims secondhand its a dog trick to sell with one wheel with an odd offset, especially in set of 5 wheels where someone bought 4 wheel originally and then tried to find a close match 5th as a spare at later date.  You see it at Old Sodbury sortout sometimes.
