She's certainly a big old unit.

I would say, "and the truck's quite large too", but then you or your wife might hunt me down and kill me

Is it an urban myth or do all Stobbart drivers have to wear a tie at all times?

Is it normal for haulage employees to have their "own" truck?  I'd always assumed you rocked up at the depot and took whatever they had knocking around?

How do they go about choosing names for the 'ladies'?  Are they named after anyone in particular, or do they choose a name that they like the sound of?  And who are 'they'?  I've always wondered.

BTW, Stephanie Caroline looks like a beauty.

At the moment there is a 2 years waiting list to have a truck named after a girl. But stobart drivers can name a truck after they have been with the firm 2 years. So my net truck i can name myself.

Oh and jake if i see her i will get a pic of her for you

Most companies try and arrange it so a driver gets the same truck all the time.
That way thay tend to look after them better.
The company I have just started with runs 8 trucks, 7 are used by the same pair of drivers and one is a spare that is used by all and sundry.
If I lined them up and asked you to tell me which one was the spare one you would be able to tell me straight away.
It will be the one that is dirty on the outside and shaby on the inside and if you look it has nothing like as many kilometres on the clock.
Sadly as I only started there last Monday guess who gets to drive round in the spare one all the time.
Not that I can compete with Graeme's fine lady as ours are only baby trucks compared to that one.
She looks a very nice girl, just look after her as I know you will.
I will keep a close eye on the names as I crawl past a 1 mph faster with the loud peddle planted to the floor and the limiter driving me crazy.
It is 30 years since I drove a lorry and there were no limiter on them then but I no doubt will get used to it in time.
If a white baby truck blasts it horn at you Graeme, before you tell them to  go away just check the driver, it may be me.

Hi there,

Impressive looking truck... they've always interested me, would love to 'have a go' driving one for a week or too, but don't think I could do it all the time!  For those of us who don't know what these are like (and are also very nosey!!), would there be any chance of a pic or 2 of what they're like inside?!  :?:

All the best,
Nat

yea will take some next week a few people have asked what they are like inside. So to give you some idea. as you climb the three steps to heavan and sit in the comfy chair which is all air controled with its own air cushion there is a flat floor the auto grearlever is a stork on the steering wheel. i can stand up and walk around inside the cab easy and i am 6 foot tall. And when on the move they are very quite inside and its a v8 420bhp twin turbo diesel. got bunk beds in side which are about 4 foot wide and just under 8 foot long. loads of storage space. oh and if you keep your eyes open scania do track days when the no hgv licence holders can drive a full size 60 foot 44 ton artic. Which i must say for me is fun to watch

Yes, let us know, I'd be up for that.  Drove one once at a Jonathan Palmer track day, but we only got 5 minutes and it took me that long to work out where the brake pedal was.

£54 grand each, or 500 for £27m.

Thrasher, given it's a similar price, do you now wish you'd gone for the extra 20bhp?
