Anyone know anthing about locking diffs?
« on: December 16, 2007, 15:10:11 »
My 90 has them front and rear.

Ive just replaced all the serviceable items on the front swivel, which meant removing the halfshaft.

Now ive put it all back together again, the front diff is permanently locked.

The light on the dash that indicated its locked is not on.

Anyone know anything about them?

Im in real poo here is i need it to go up to the Peaks over Xmas.

now what make are they?

just the light on the dash sounds like the standard centre diff lock and so wouldnt lock the front.

where you headed in the peak?

damn.... New id miss something!

They are MaxiDrive, and the lights on the dash are the Maxidrive ones with FRONT and REAR written on them.

I think that the selector bit that is pulled by the piston has come off...

how the hell do fix that!

ill be honest i dont know the maxi drive ones. have you lifted one wheel to see if its free? just a thought that the switch could be faulty.

call the dealer they are your best bet. its either that or strip the diff and have a look.
