Doing my usual thing of trying to sit on the fence on this matter, I would say that I agree, to the greater amount.
But..........
Surely a Forum is where all (within certain legal and decency guidelines ) topics can be discussed?
Discussion can become heated, that is true, but isn't that part of democracy?
In all fairness, I do have issues when it becomes personal or particularly vitriolic towards a person, persons, groups etc etc, and in which case I would agree with Dan.
It is a shame, as there are some really great posters on here, and I know personally of 3 people who used to post but who no longer do so because of the pettyness of some.

Yes, I am;  one of the quieter of the fraternity.  A lurker, if you will.

The thread was locked because it was a comment, not a trigger for a debate, as there's been plenty of debate on the same topic already, and I was concerned it would trigger the very abuse I was trying to quell.

However, so far apparently not.  Long may it continue.

I don't think so mike.  Somehow I just think it's a clash of "personalities", as much as you can have over the interweb at least.
