Advantages = Plenty to choose from and they can be reasonable in price
Disadvantages = They sadly have the tendency to break down more than their rivals, don't worry though as spares are everywhere

had a 90 now got a disco...they are both good and very capable. 90 was better at some things than disco and visa versa...personally i'd stick with the zook thats the most fun i've had!

Hi and welcome to the mad house.
I could not make up my mind so i got ...
A disco 2 and a 90
As said any landrover you get will need be looked after and spares are cheaper (lots) that the rivals.
Best items to get...well totally up to you. plenty of things to buy.

had a series and now have a disco 1
series was fab, loved it, couldnt fault it and miss it like stink but..............................
the disco was my dream car and it is so much better on the road to drive and comfier and wait for it, has a radio I can hear ;)
So for laning I prefer the disco due to it being so much comfier and you can spend more time glancing at the views down lanes instead of having to fight the steering in a series /90!
So laning, towing and general driving = disco
off roading = 90 in my eyes.

I went for a disco because i could afford a 90 and my mate had a 90 because a disco is 'the farmers wifes car'. Mine goes everywhere his does but with more comfort. Now he has got a dog (which he doesnt want in his everyday car) he is getting a disco instead because they are more comfy on they roads.
I still want a 90 tho!

You can't discount price, not unless you have endless cash. The 90 is seeen as being the most capabvle off-road and as such always carries a rpremium. If you are after a good all-rounder then the Dsico or RRC will deliver more car for you cash, be more comfortable and often more practical.
The Disco does have more overhangs and is wider, that's the main reason it's not seen as the best off-road choice but unless you're after serious competition then I'd get a Disco or RRC, more room, more comfort.

if its for offroading then go for a defender unless you are ok with smashing the panels on a disco or RRC
