Multi Function UNnit

Anyone know anything about the multi function unit fitted to 300 series Disco and soft dash RRC?
I think ours has packed up, the interior lights stayed on for a while and now don't come on at all, plus the rear wash-wipe doesn't wipe, just like a door is permentantly open..I've checked all the door switches and the aftermarket alarm so it looks like the MFU.
Can I change it without any problems? I've been told it's part of the imobiliser.

Hi Ricky, yes a short to earth was my first thought, but I've checked the door switches and the wring is not connected to earth at all, so the short myst be very close to or inside the MFU. The lights still come on with the dash switch.

Ok, I've done the self-test and all the inputs checked out, but the rear wash-wipe didn't self-test.
I've replaced the MFU with a second hand one and tested it again.
I get a confirmatory beep from all 4 doors and the tailgate, I get beeps from all the switches inclluding those for the rear wash-wip. I get the interior light coming on as part of the self-test but no rear wash wipe.
So there's no aparent fault with any of the door switches or the dash switches. the interior light still comes on with the dash switch but never wit the door switches. if I disconnect the battery or the MFU for that matter the light comes on permantantly untill it times out.
So it still sounds like a door adjar, but how can it be? is there another door input I don't know about?

I'd thought about that but it seems ot be working fine, though I admit I didn't check it on the self-test (it was cold and dark).
There's also an aftermarket alarm, but that's connected to the driver's dor switch which works fine on the self-test.

Could you have a short in the grommet where the electrics go through to the rear door which would take out the rear wash wipe and potentialy earth out the interior light

I'm wondering if it's something to do with the wash wipe rather than the MFU itself, but on the self-test the interior light comes on, so there wouldn't appear to be anything wrong with the wiring to it, just that the MFU thinks there is a door open :?

Had this same problem with my Disco Commercial, including a few other faults, rear demister, lights on alarm not working. Changed the MFU for a new one and all fixed!
4 weekends of testing, taking apart and tracing..... for it to be the effing MFU!
Grrrr......
