Some Advice

Hi Folks,

Those of you who went to whitworth know my zook, those who didnt I have a LWB vitara which i like alot.  Only problem is its very low (compared to other 4x4s) and with it being a LWB severy limited obstacles i could get over, now since whitworth i've been pricing up some "enhancements" for it.  

This is gonna end up a bit pricey, now the queestion is (unbiased heads on please  :twisted: ).  Do i lift the zook and put other bits and bats on it, or do i  look for a cheapish defender/other?  I've been weighing up the pros and cons but cant decide.

Any advice is appreciated

YEP get a cheepo s3/90/110 and use that instead keep the zook for town and alike. :D

I tend to agree... get a cheap Series for playing... easy to fix, cheap panels, etc.

Keep the Zuk as a road car... it's comfortable and I guess not bad on fuel.

That way the Zuk will hold its resale value as a "normal" vehicle, and you could easily sell the LR on if you ever wanted rather than ending up with a 'special'.  Insurance on a Series will be dirt cheap too, probably a lot less than on a modified vehicle.

You could alway lift the Vit

Heres 2 that belong to mates of mine




The one on the left is a lwb like yours on 235/85R16s and the one on the right is a swb on 33x12.50R15s

more than likely got a body lift too. i think it is personal pref what you do. a cheap defender that will need constant work will be £2000. although i am a rangie lover i think you should well sort the suzuki. you already have that and you dont need to go out looking at piles of rubbish 2k defenders and a series landy although brilliant will still need constant work and every mot will be a pain welding wise.
your suzuki is relativly new in comparison and doing all the bits will only amount to about £800-£1000 and you know the chassis isnt going to snap through rust for a few years to come.

i would sort the zook and be different doesnt matter about the long wheelbase, you have light weight on your side and it isnt that much longer than a 90 and nowhere near the length of a 110.

Those Zooks do look rather awsome.
I echo the Series 3 points - constant work to keep going - always little niggly jobs that should only take 10 mins and quite often take a lot longer

Yes as soon as i get it the picks will be on ., cant wait, its ages since ive driven a bake bean can,. From what ive seen and heard the garage  has put old rr wheels on ,if thats the case what tyres will fit. 265 75 16 or can you go larger to 85s   Think ill end up with Colways MT though.

If you want to keep the comfort of your zuk then think about an old Range Rover.  I've been offered several for about £1000 that were very solid, tidy cars.  Add a little more for a gas conversion and you've a very nice motor.  True, ours isn't running very well at the moment but that, once again, is because of the bodges that have been done previously.
If you're going to give it some abuse then I'm afraid ANY car will need more attention than your average family car.
The depreciation of your Zuk is another good point, do you know what it's worth now? what will it be worth when all the mod.s are done?  You could end up spending a grand to cost you as much again in devaluation.

the lift on the red Zuk is a 3" calmini suspension lifts with 3" body lifts try specialist leisure for the parts. the white one is a bit more of a custom.
