2.5TD Starting problems
« on: January 07, 2008, 12:29:12 »
When I turn the key, I just get a click...I think it may be the starter motor sticking but not sure. It's happened before and I can normally roll the whole vehicle forward and back a little and it'll start again. No such luck this time!! Any ideas??

it could be a stuck solenoid
tap it with a hammer and try again

Where do I find it?

And roughly what am I looking at to replace a starter motor?

Solenoid should be on the side of the starter.
Before you take it out give all the connection to starter & solenoid a damn good clean including the chassis earth...could just be a poor connection  :D
Did everyone see that?  Because I will NOT be doing it again!

Nope its fiddly but can be changed without disturbing the manifolds or exhaust but you will swear a lot :)..... oh and do it when the engine is cold :) youd be surprised... may just need removing and cleaning out and greasing

Cheers Steve

i assume the battery is definately charged, as a low battery will cause it to just click and not turn over.
