defender td 5 fuel direction

im busy wiring in a fuel cut off solenoid as part of my security

my question is which way does the fuel run into the preheater

theres a hard plastic pipe which runs in the left side (away from the motor)
and a soft rubber one which comes to the other side nearest the motor
which is the in which is the out

  i was of the understanding it was a fuel heater but its a cooler
just as well i posted as id some how thought it flowed the other way
