Twisted body???
« on: January 14, 2008, 19:15:22 »
I have noticed recently that the drivers door now catches at the bottom when I close it and the rear door comes off its little spike to stop it opening further than it should. You know, that little pin bit sticking up by the bumper.

Has my disco body been twisted? I was at a very articulated angle a few months ago which bent the track rod big time.

Can a disco body twist? How would I tell?

Check to see if all the body mounts are still connected to the chassis.
The ones on the rear crossmember are a favourate for rusting and dropping the body, I've just replaced both on my V8.  ;)

Are your hinges ok? Mine used to hit the bottom of that wedge-shaped support thingy on the left hand side, traced it to a worn upper hinge.

They have a bit of surface rust on the boot ones but front door is fine. Boot keeps on catching after an off roading session but have always put that down to bumper being hit up on a hill.

Just seems wierd that 2 doors now catch and they never used too and have now started at the same time.

Nope, your right Matt. It is mainly the big back back door and the drivers door.
