HELP!! Headlight issues!!
« on: January 17, 2008, 19:59:35 »
Hi Guys,

Just nipped up to the shops, and headlights were all ok. On the way back, went for a bit of a recce for flooded rivers to play in tomorrow, and when I popped my High beam on...they came on just fine.

.....but when I turned them off, the main beam was no longer on, just my side lights. Tried switching everything on & off a couple of times, with same results.....side lights come on fine in position 1, no main beam in position 2, but brights come on when in position 2 when I push the stalk forward.

Checked the fuses and everything seems ok, although I did do it with only the interior light to work with, so pretty dark....will check again in the morning.

Is there any other possible causes you can think of? I have done a search and dont really understand some of the offers of advice given there....so very basic instructions needed!!

Its my first day off in ages, and I really want to go for a splash at Felmersham....not spend my day scratching my head or at my garage!

Did you get the lights wet on your recce?
Although it does sound like the light stalk is on it's way out.  Try wiggling (technical term!) the light switch gently to see if they come on.
Did everyone see that?  Because I will NOT be doing it again!

The riveted wire termination has fractured in the dip switch, allowing the feed wire to the lights to fall off.
