RAC windscreens

Well....

In feb 06 I had a new windscreen fitted by RAC Autowindscreens. It was bit of a palarva as the plastic trim surrounds were mostly broken and needed new ones. So RAC got me new ones and fitted them with a new windscreen.

My Rover has always been bad at misting up due to a certain numpty driver going through a flood and hydro locking his engine. Don't know who that would be!!  However, recently it has got worse and the flood was 7 years ago now so would like to think it had dried out by now!!!

Driving home today I saw a dribble going down the windscreen, and I hate anything on my windscreen so I put the wipers on. And it stayed there. So again, and still it was there. Got home and gave the screen a good wipe and my hand got wet. Funny!  :-k

I have seen that the whole of the front edge of the roof lining is dripping wet and by the sun visors the water has seeped round to the sides of them and again, dripping wet. Grr I thought.

I have just given RAC a call and to my amazement all thier windscreens are covered by a 3 year warranty  :dance: I should be getting a call today from RAC for a fitter to come out sometime to see the water and repair the screen. I told the chap on the phone about me wondering why it was misting up so much and about the headlining dripping wet. His reply to that was, if I felt it needs a valet once the work has been done, they will arrange for one of those too.  :clap: :dance:

So lets see how they perfor on mending the screen and maybe getting a valet. I have wanted a valet for my Rover since I bought it in 1999 and never managed to justify spending the money.

So after a real bad week, there is a wee hint of a smile on my face.

We get threads on here saying which breakdown cover company to go for? Well, I am sticking with RAC even more now. Great customer care. :clap:

3 year warranty, good news as the trim on my LSE screen has never fit properly.  It only cost £826 :pirate:

There after service is excellent....


One branch up North accidently cut through the roof of a Ferrari (carbon composite), it was the most expensive cock up (QD6) on record !!!

They replaced a window on my Volvo a few years ago, and broke the trim surround in doing so.

For reasons I've never quite fathomed, given it was 100% their own stupid fault, *I* ended up driving round picking up replacement trim parts, dropping them off to the paint shop, and then delivering them to Auto Windscreens to replace the ones they'd broken.

Then they fixed the new trim on, and didn't mount it properly, so it stuck out.  At that point I gave up and vowed never to darken their doors again.

I wouldn't use them again.  For me, their after-sales service was absolutely rubbish.

By the way, surely Muddyjames you should be happier with a company that actually fixes your windscreen properly in the first place, rather than one who cocks the job up and then has to sort it out? :)

Well, I have a feeling it could maybe slightly be my fault as I drove the car right on the limit of the time they said the glue would have setas I was due to go on holiday and pick someone up en route. So it may have lifted slightly then.

Why it has taken me 2 years to notice I dont know. Probably because I dont tend to look up the roof lining often. (most of it is held up by stapples anyway :lol:

just a thought

is your ariel on the roof above the screen? as that could be leaking causing this (especially if you use a car wash to clean it)

Ariel is a leccy jobby on the back by the boot and I have only used a car wash once in the 9 years I have had it.

So don't think it is either of those.

Oh, and the wetness is getting worse after driving it today. Misted up round the multi storey car park. felt very silly going round with windows open!  :roll:
