winch fitting
« on: January 22, 2008, 20:01:48 »
has anyone fitted a winch fully behind the front grill? or can it be fitted behind, i don't mind a bit of welding.

forgot to add it's a 300tdi without a/c and the winch is a epi9.

I've seen it done on RRC too, very beat but a sod to get to when you're up to the headlights in the brown stuff.

You can weld a winch plate straight to the chassis if your welding is good enough.

Mobi

Theres a chap called Noddy (beast motorsports) up in Wick that has mounted a Husky of all things completely behind the grill on his 300tdi, you unclip the centre piece of the bumper to reveal the fairlead, absolutely brilliant job. I'm useless with posting pictures on here, but I will try and stick some in my gallery on Monday. As he's local it's worth going and having  look.

one of my club members knows noddy, i can ask him if he knows what he has done.
at the moment i'm thinking of a fix grill as i bought a mesh grill a few weeks ago, i have a bowrope so i can winch it out, if i'm using it alot i can coil it up on the front somewhere.
