Tailgate door unable to open
« on: January 24, 2008, 16:55:25 »
Wonder if anyone can help. I cannot open the tailgate. All has been fine until this afternoon.

The handle bit which opens the door from the outside seems to be 'jammed' inside the handle part.

I climbed in the back through the side door and tried to open it from inside but it still wouldn't budge

Any Ideas??
If I could only find some mud to play in, I would be as happy as the preverbial pig!!!

Remove the Oval off the back door and release the door handle mechanism.

Should be able to gain access then....

I had exactly the same problem last month.

As Chris has said just pop out the Land Rover badge on the back door and push the handle back. Did this on mine and it now works a treat.

lubricate it when you get the badge off
If it broke, I wasn't there.

Well I never knew that. my handle gets stuck sometimes and the only way I can gain accsses is to either climb inside or most of the time I use my door key (not best thing in the world but best thing that fis  ) and push the handle back into place, lock and relock doors and it seems to work.

will remember green oval next time
