WOW - absolutely stunning efects ..who needs Hollywood.as a side note my Great Uncle was there during the original landings - and was reduced to tears watching Private Ryan, said it was so realistic and brought back memories he thought had long gone..Would love to visit the landing sites one day..least we can do to remember them.

I did the Normandy landing beaches in 2005. It was awesome to see what had been achieved, especially at Omaha, where every thing was against the troops, especially no armoured support and the German use of terrain. Perhaps it would be worth organising a MC trip over there. There are good guide books available. The ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre is fairly cheap and there are plenty of campsites around that area. It could be cheaper if it was done in the late season, say September, it would still be warm enough to camp or caravan if needed. A week would be enough to do the area with a couple of sites of interest each day. From what I recall the trip with ferry and campsite cost was in the region of £300 for two adults. Not bad really. The ideal time to go would be June time, but it would be packed over there. I've seen loads of the restored WW2 vehicles going out from Portsmouth. An incredible sight!
you might as well p**s all over the graves of the british and allied soldiers graves that died in the second world war,and say thanks for nothing
We spent six years defending this island from the nazis, and then what does the government do???they build a channel tunnel!!!!so some other country can do exactly what hitler tried to do,and this time they would probably succeed cos this time they can walk into Britain!!!!you might as well p**s all over the graves of the british and allied soldiers graves that died in the second world war,and say thanks for nothing
yeah, they thought that in 1939 when hitler invaded poland, just because they use different tactics these days doesnt mean that they cant fight a war without troops on the ground in the country that they are fighting in,the chunnel makes it a whole lot easier and it wont be the major superpowers that fight itll be some nutter dictator in an unknown country that kicks off...............america thought they were infallible, any body remember the twin towers?,it just seems ridiculous that in ww2 the only reason that hitler didnt get onto this island is because he couldnt get over the channel (if he had,we would all be calling each other "mein herr" by now") and then the idiots go build a channel tunnel thinking "oh were alright, itll never happen again".............ha! dont tempt fate
Errrrrr... whats a couple of jet liners crashing got to do with the channel tunnel? Are the nasty guys planning to bring some dismantled 747s through it?To stop being silly for a moment. Have you considere what you have written? You are proposing that some "nutter dictator in an unknown country" succesfully invades france. Occupies it. Sends an invasion army through a 30 odd mile tunnel that is not designed for cars/trucks/tanks, that at most could take 3 tanks a breast burst through the other side into england in a surprise attack? :shock:I really do hope you posted your 'opinions' to get a response and not that they are your true opinions.
