VW Diesels, Workshop Manuals and My ACME conversion......
« on: February 03, 2008, 15:31:26 »
Well a 200 mile round trip yeaterday saw me collect the secondhand ACME kit to drop the vw TD into Caz's Vitara

I think I got a bargain at £600 as it included

The acme full kit incl modified sump
Acme downpipe and flexi exhaust first pipe
full custom exhaust
a ready modified VW 1.6TD (you need to carry out crank mods to fit the acme kit.)
a modified vitara gearbox to suit (have the original box still in caz's vit so may mod hers in situ)
accelerator cable and modded vitara accelerator pedal
starter spacer etc etc
glow plug relay and loads of assorted odds n sods

just need to use my original vitara clutch, alternator (although there is one on the engine) and starter and it should be there...

looking at ACME's site i reckon it would have cost me $1300 dollars incl import duty and postage for all that I have and then i would have had to find an engine (£100 or so) and mod Caz's gearbox......

however on to more important pooints, the only missing bit is the turbo oil return pipe so must get one and fit it, but does anyone have any links to any VW diesel type forums or any sites where i could poss download a workshop engine manual??

I know there are a few VW convertees on here so anyone got any good sites etc...

The step by step swop etc will all be documented on my site once I start, its got to be ready for a laning weekend thats planned 21-24 March

Cheers Steve

Yep, its the one Pete (Mud n Diesel) was selling, top bloke, had plenty of time to look over his 1.9 with its 2" body lift and 3" Calamini kit....... superb conversion compared to my Landy it was silent (for a diesel :) ), given me plenty of ideas... unfortunately Caz's favourite saying seems to be 'When will it be ready!!'.. arghh a few cold nights coming up :)
