TD5 Dead Instruments
« on: February 07, 2008, 20:19:45 »
The instruments went dead on my TD5.

now here's the mad one... when you power up the ignition they come to life but once you start the engine they go dead again.

I have checked the multiplug connection and it is sound.. I'm thinking it must be a loose connection??

Anyone seen this before???

Oooo...eeeeerr - bizarre

Do all other electrical items - door locks, leccy windows, headlights etc work ok ? - both with just ignition, and when the engine is running ?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the instrument binnacle is controlled by the BECM/BCU box - someone with Rovacom should be able to test it, Nanocom diags doesn't cover these bits (yet !)

Check your engine ecu behing the battery for oil contamination.......you need to unplug both plugs.......very common problem on a lot of Td5's
