p38 gearbox revs

Hi any ideas why my car (over revs) when it changes gear (auto gearbox) as if clutch is slipping on a manual box .

possible low oil in box

or have you got it on sport mode as it revs 500 RPM more in this mode

I would check the oil and possibly change it anyway to be safe.

Always a good starting point on an auto box.

oil level is correct but will change it at weekend wondering how the kickdown works because it feels like something to do with that.

Doesn't kickdown still work ona cable from the throttle? if so it's worth checking the adjustment.

P38 kickdown is operated by a switch on the throttle rather than a cable; in fact I think it might even be just the normal throttle position sensor that does it. From there it's all controlled by the gearbox computer.

Now I am in shock - something I knew that RRB didn't! I think I had better go and have a lie down!

No there are no messages on the dash ,will have to check kick down but i fear the worst about a rebuild god knows how much that is .

Ah, but it's a P38.  Park one on my drive and it'll end up covered in little round dents, where I've touched it with a barge pole :lol:
