But which is actually better??Betamax was far superior to VHS, but it was the latter that won through. I wonder if the same will apply to HD/Blu-Ray.

P.S., I heard a rumour that the, shall we say "adult" movie industry had thrown in behind HD-DVD, mainly on the grounds of cost, and they were a large influence on the success of VHS last time around
PS3, £180 :D :D :D :D :DBut I have to say that TBH it's not worth it, Blue ray I mean.We bought Harry Potter on Blue ray, and even though I spent more time watching the effects than the film, I couldn't tell the difference.If you get a decent DVD player with composite ouotput then you have 720 lines or whatever, the baseline standard for HD-TV and that's what I use, so when I wheel out the PS3 and play 1080 lines progressive, little or no difference.
