Who likes to weld?
« on: February 27, 2008, 14:42:18 »
HI
i brought a soft top Sammy a few months ago, and have finally got round to stripping it down removing carpets etc. However the tin worm has had a field day eating all 4 arches the footwells, cills and the gearbox tunnel by a seat belt mount.
I would like to get it thru an mot so i can get back green laning and drive it back and forth.
I had a welder but found it more useful as a cutting torch so gave up on the diy welding and got rid. im happy with the mechanic side of things and the removal of metal just not the dark arts of welding.
so is there any one around the Ely, cambridgeshire area who wants to make some money or do you think i should look for a new tub, Strip scrap and look for another truck or stick with it. i have tried a couple of garages but they dont seem that impressed with me wanting to repair it as it would cost more than its worth.

I'm looking for boxed cills and larger arches already have defender ones to put on.
Ive started cutting out the worst of it and now at a stage where I'm thinking about taking a match and rag to it.

heres some photos of the state of it.

so any ideas suggestions?
