Where to cut on a 5 door for 33's?
« on: March 01, 2008, 14:13:25 »
Have just acquired a set of 33x12.5's and plan to fit these onto my 5 door disco 1. Due to the back doors I can well believe that its a much bigger job cutting the arches out than on a 3 door.....Does anybody have any pics or tips on where to cut?

Lift wise I will be fitting a 2" OME

Cheers
Ian

Fitting 33 x 12.5 will require wheel arch extensions (to stay legal).

Therefore, when you buy the arches, you should get a cutting guide with them (assuming your getting Disco 5-door ones).

The rear doors are a [!Expletive Deleted!] without the template, other wise, it's a little at a time, but you will remove a lot, approx. 2".

i didn't get any templates with my archs but i would get your archs first as they are not the same shape as the wheel arch.
just mask of the wing and door then hold the arch up to the body work (get an extra pair of hands if not two pairs) and that will give you an idea of where to cut.

Hello 101,
there's no idication on you profile of where in the world you are,
but if you are near enough to Wirral you can take a look at my RRC, (same chassis and wheel arches)
I've chopped away the arches and fitted 235/85/16's
the amount that I've chopped is enough to fit even larger tyres.
I'm not too familiar with the imperial numerics on tyres but I know I can fit 255/85/16's on with out any probs.
Cheers,
Ron.

if going for the raccia arches i would ring first as i wanted some the other week but they was having problems and wouldnt have any for about a month!

so i ended up with the flexi ones from paddocks but the fitting instructions are crap you would think that a template of some sort would come with them given they cost a fortune
