Shogun Recovery Points

A friend has a Shogun LWB and is in desperate need of some proper recovery points, for when he's on his off-road excursions. Any idea where to buy them, what type is best and where to fit them?
He has been green laning with me recently and I'm a bit worried about pulling him out of the mire just using the front towing eye.
No problem with recovery points on my Landy, they're all sorted, but really unsure about what's best for a Shogun.
Any help please.

front towing eye is more than sufficient, never of heard or seen a problem using that, on the other side there is a hook type thing that can be used as well if needed, both are secure. ;)

as mark said both are secure why not put a bridle across the two recovery points then connect rope or strop or winch to recover :)

Do you just rely on a tow bar for rear recovery?

The eye in the centre of the bumper is usually used for rear recovery - it is plenty stong enough! Ocassionally, though, it's been removed...

The eye on the drivers side front is the recovery eye and again is plenty for off road recovery. To buck the trend, though, I wouldn't recommend using the one on the passenger side as part of a recovery set up - this is classed as a tie down eye only, for attaching the vehicle to a trailer, and is not rated for the sort of dynamic loads associated with an off road recovery.

That said, everything on the Shogun/Pajero seems to be well over-engineered, and it's surprising what you can get away with!

I thought I'd check before I ended up pulling lumps of his car when he gets stuck. The next upgrade is some decent off-road tyres, as he's only got road tyres at the moment, any recommendations?

depends how aggressive he wants to go, are they staying on all the time? Insa's are good but wear down at a fair rate of knots if doing a lot of road work, if he dont fancy muds, then you cannot beat bfg's A/Ts expensive but guaranteed to last the life time of the truck, 2 extremes really similar to landy's really nowt different
if he goes for muds, then tell him to go for 32's or 265's in the insa's this will give a little axle clearance, or even 33's if he can get them in, depends if he has a factory lift or not.

A second for the BFG AT's - mine had 60,000 miles on them when I let the truck go, and were about 2/3 worn.

Never let me down on or off road, even in the mud pit at the National 4x4 show!
