Alarm 'Glitch'

On going to my Discovery earlier this afternoon to come home from work, I noticed an unusual phenomenon.
The alarm didn't give its usual single flash to indicate dis-arming.
On trying it, the indicators all work normally and flash 3times on arming.

Presumably it's an alarm control unit glitch, does anyone know anything differant.
Can it be re-set on 'Textbook'?

the relay for the Alarm is *not* the same one as for the indicators...

Try checking accordingly

I'll have a check, but to flash correctly on 'arming' & not on 'dis-arming'??
It seems a bit weird.

Is the battery OK in your KeyFob ?

ISTR that the vehicle has some way of telling you when the battery is getting low...   Used to on my Td5 I'm sure.

On my key fob when the batteries need changing the little red light blinks twice when I press the fob, as to normally only once.

Might be worth actually activating the alarm then re-setting, then seeing if this cures the glitch  :?

Not sure if this will help, but had exactly the problem you are describing at the weekend, in addition to the interior lights not coming on.  Ended up standing in the dark, arming and disarming for a while.  Went to bed that night thinking that wading at Tixover had corrupted something and wondering how much it would cost to fix.

Anyway, went out in the morning and one of the rear doors was not quite shut properly.  Closed it, and hey presto, all was fine.

May be a complete red herring, but you never know . . . . .

So what's this flashing of the indicators thing when locking and unlocking  :?

Had my '94 M plate for over two years now and it's never flashed once although I know it's supposed to.  I was told when I bought it that the fob batteries were new then and I've not changed them in between.

The alarm works (if you can call that horrid honking noise an alarm) but it don't flash.

Any clues?

Mmmm. The fob battery could possibly be the culprit as I seem to be standing closer & closer all the time.

Didn't check the inside lights, as it was daylight when I noticed the fault

The newly purchased (£20.00) fob would operate from about 10-15yards. I'll try it tomorrow morning to confirm/dis-count the battery.

That sounds like the problem Datalas was describing.  The alarm uses it's own relay to flash the indicators whilst arming/disarming.  It's probably broke :-)

It must've been feeling a bit temperamental yesterday.
It's worked fine whilst SWMBO (version 2.0) & myself have been out to the Co-Op & Grand-ma's this morning.

Time will tell.
