Salvage Squad

Channel 4 are repeating this brilliant series again on a Monday evening between 20:00 & 21:00.

When I saw it listed I hoped it would be a new series, but no it's the fist one all over again.
Next Monday they're doing an Alvis Stalwart.
Yes, that big beautiful beast is shown in its full glory. It even goes swimming at the end.
The sound from that Roll-Royce 8litre straight-8 petrol engine sounds as good as many a V8.

I want one, but I'm trying to persuade a mate who's just restored an ex-'Mines Rescue' Atkinson tractor unit to buy one & get it sorted.

Jaa, had a look at the Buxton site.
Wonder if that's the same 'Stolly' that was at Langley Farm in September?

Bet it carved out that gully for all the following traffic :D

The owner was advertising for 'crew' to join him on a cruise around Ullswater at £25.00 each.

Still using the Stocksbridge site, eh?
I used to go there years ago ('87 - '89) to see Yorkshire Rover Owners Club CCV trials.
If memory serves correctly they were held somewhere inWharncliffe Woods.

The father-in-law drove 'Stollys', he was a driving instructor on them in the B.A.O.R
He still loves them

the stolly didn't even run in the gully but drove on the walls as they taper in towards the bottom
the trial at stocksbridge was run on a hillside above the stocksbridge bypass and it is as steep as it looks

Watched Granada TV's 'Men & Motors' this afternoon (SKY 139) - even though it's a lot better after 23:00 :)

There was a new programme on called 'Military Motors', it featured a few guys swimming Stalwarts on the River Thames.
A nice way of relaxing, it's alright for some.

There was also the guy (Nick Mead) on with his Centurian AREV that was restored on 'Salvage Squad', his fields were showne & they're jam-packed with 'heavy metal'.
His site/business via this link; www.tanks-alot.co.uk

Next week (Thursday 27th  @16:30) they are featuring the big late 1950's tank transporter, the Thorneycroft Antar.
Yet another nice 'big boys toy'
