I was thinking along the same lines. My roof is a bit tatty round the Alpine windows and there are a few marks on the roof where the previous owner tried to squeeze under a height limit. I was thinking of getting it done by a local body shop, better job than my dodgy spraying. My Discovery is silver and I thought a black roof would look good, never thought of having the bonnet done like that but now I have seen a picture it looks good. Black steel wheels to finish?

A matt black bonnet will be usefull if we have a good summer, it helps the bonnet loose some heat too.

When you paint the bonnet either wet and dry or scotch off the centre area. Mask the line with pin strip and not masking tape as the paint will seep under masking tape. Paint with a satin black spray.

I did mine this way and it looked as proffesional as my camel disco.

Good luck.

I suppose you could laquer it but it would give a glossy finish. I just satin blacked mine and it lasted longer than I had the disco.
