300tdi injector pump removal
« on: April 02, 2008, 12:47:07 »
my 300 tdi is in a million bits at the moment and the only bit i daren't remove is the injector pump just incase i cant get it timed up correctly, so what ive done is removed the whole of the rear of the timing cover with it still attached to it.....

so how hard is it to remove the timing gear that connects to the injector pump without upsetting the timing f it..... if its anything like the camshaft gear then it will be a doddle, as that has a locating pip that lines up the gear, so its impossible to go wrong......

as much help as possible with this one boys and girls

thanks
I LOVE MUD!!!!!! but my engine doesnt

as long as you dont undo the big nut in the middle you should be o.k. theres know woodruff key so you have to mess about with a dti guage and pump lift settings. i think iff i remember theres 3 x 10 mm bolts on the front , crack them off. timing is a 9.5 mm drill carefull iff you locate it before you crack the bolts off you can crack the pump casing. then locate the drill. take the bolts out , that should be it. when you rebuild it its best to time it with the 3 bolts slightly loose so that when you tension the belt the pulley takes up the slack and not alter the pump. there is also a keeper plate on the pump 1/2 way down at the back just behind the casing you have took off.10 mm again i think. iff you remove the plate and nip the bolt back up it will hold the pump . not to tight and dont attempt  to move the pump with it locked you can damage the shaft. there must be some picis on this somewhere but i aint good with computers. hope this helps. alan....(4 got to mention mines in bits too, gearbox though )
