Its quite good, I would say it would look good on a RRC, don't ask me why.

I don't think Discoverys look so good with tubular bumpers, my own opinions remember...

If it were mine i would have tried to make some sort of end cap along the lines of the original out of metal and added it on, to me it looks a little untidy towards the bottom of the rear light's, however that's just my opinion. well done for having a go in the first place i'd love to be able to weld metal together and make things
Didn't notice from the picture but had you thought of making a tank guard and adding that to the design with maybe a all purpose tow bracket thing?

Free

that's the best thing you can get for inspiration.

Looks good  :D

not sure about bumpers without end caps on discos ,I know they get knocked off but they do tidy the corners up. However I think the colour of the car can have a bearing on how they look too, silver seems to work well :D

Then again all the best Discos are silver ;)
so many hills , so little time ....

Silver??? Nail Varnish Pink like mine is the best colour...

Glad to see I am not the only one with a girting gret repair panel welded onto the rear cross member :-)

As far as commenting on your bumper...

I'd be worried about my rear quarters if I were you. The rear quarters tend to get a right bashing and that is why people who make heavy duty bumpers go to the trouble of making corners up. Its not for looks only!

If I were you I'd get some thick aluminum 5 bar tread plate and make up panels to go on your rear corner bottoms to protect them. Get some good sized pot rivets and secure them well. If like me you don't like the look of chequer plate in its natural state you can always get a tin of paint the same colour as your vehicle from automotive paint supplier and hand paint it - its not so obtrusive then.

Cheers

John

Looks good to me. Do you have a mock-up of option 2, the single thicker bumper?

im on the fence with with one, tubelur does look very nice the only makes me unsure is the daft panel of the rear quater it never seem to looked finish when u remove the ends cap, yet when rear over hangs are cut off it looks alot better.

i think i go for a 5 inch slash cut singe pipe  with over hanges and 3 1/2 inches without.

oh there a cheap rear bumper going on ebay right now pic below
