3 light syndrome

hey everyone. <<i know its a bit of a read but please bear with me>>

ive got a problem.

my pajero has had a few problems with the battery holding charge and fuses blowing (including the 100amp)

after speaking to a few people on some website i was told the altenator was at fault, i took it to a company in burton to test it for me. turns out it was completly dead. i sourced a new one from a guy near manchester and fitted that.

all seemed fine until a few days later when i went to start it only to find the problem had returned.   :(

has anyone got any other solutions for my problem?

Seeing that its only been on the Paj a few day, I would first of all, check your connectors to the alternator.
My girlfriend has found that after the original went, the aftermarket alternators lasted between two weeks and 9 months.
In two years she had 4 different alternators, in the end the original alternator was rebuilt, refitted and was still ok after 1 year.

commen fault on these is the starting motor solinoid drianing all the power or not enough, sucking all the life out of ya battreys
or wrong size ampage alternator, check ya belts pullys, should be 80amp fuse attached to the battrey and also check your earths make sure there clean and connected hope it helps mate

Firstly if the alternator is at fault I'd try and get your cash back for it. Secondly as mad geordies said if you still have your old one try and get it recon'd. I got mine done for £60 which was a lot cheaper than getting a new pattern one and you don't even want to know what Mitsi would want for one :shock: :shock: :shock:

Mind you I think I could of saved the £60 if I'd of just run a hose through it for a while as the guy who recon'd it said he'd never seen so much mud in an alternator before :twisted:
