hi i have a 200tdi it always showed hot on the gauge, on motorway runs it would creep up to red, but atrangely you could drive it hard in low box for miles in middle of summer and it would only reach 3 quaters up gauge, to cut story short i had new water pump fitted and now runs half way max new pump were £40 plus fitting

My 2 softies run half way, one V8 one TDi.  My sister's TDi runs about 1/3 and blue the same with tis latest engine.  they are a bit inacurate though so it's best to decide for yourself what constitutes normal.

Those things are great aren't they, usefull for checking a rad if you suspect it's blocked.

normally my 200tdi never goes above half way, but in europe in the 40 degree heat i had to fit and electric famn fitted in place of the front grille to keep it under control, a new radiator really helped my situation as it was getting well close to the red previously
