Don't talk to me about b****y E-BAy, some t**t has hijacked my account and started selling stolen cars in the USA, can you imagine the confusing e-mails I got about the late model, Mercedes C class that was advertised in the USA by me, here in Yorkshire.

Had they not e-mailed though, I wouldn't have known anything untill I couldn't get into my account, so I'm glad of that.

I just can't understand why people find it so amusing to p**s other people off, it's not as if no-one noticed what they were up to.

It's a song by Weird Al Yankovich!

Better than the original I think!!

It's nice to know that of all the places a Land Rover can go, anywhere could be one of them!

Remember, when it comes to Land Rover ownership, there is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

The song really does sum up ebay. Plus it is rather amusing.

I get emails from ebay now and again, saying my account is suspended please go to url address, and verify you details.

I always ignore these, as I have found after talking to ebay they are fraudulant, the only time i woould contact ebay, through their usual address would be if they actually froze my account, which has never happened

The phishers are getting better, though.  I had an eBay mail this morning which was quite convincing.  Instead of the usual broken English and dodgy links, it did look exactly how it would have looked if eBay had sent it.  Only, they wouldn't have sent it.

Out of interest (I'm using a Mac, so I'm pretty impervious to malware) I clicked the link...  And sure enough, although it looks like a pucker link, it goes to a numerical IP address.  I didn't investigate further...

However, for anybody without a healthy dose of paranoia, it's easy to see how you could be caught out.

Just make sure you have all your patches and updates installed... there have been a stream of browser vulnerabilties lately on *all* operating systems (these include Firefox, IE, Safari, Mozilla, etc. etc.)

If your browser isn't up to date, or is set up wrong, even a link such as the one you describe above can be made to look right in the browser once it has been clicked.

The only safe solution is to type web addresses in manually if you are not 100% sure of their origin.
