What Engine Oil??
« on: May 11, 2008, 22:53:14 »
I have a 300TDi and it has developed a flashing oil warning light occasionally on tick over, but more so when the oil is very hot. I have been running it on 10/40 Semi synthetic and wonder if I should now change to 15/40 mineral as it has done 140k miles

Any info/advice would be good
If I could only find some mud to play in, I would be as happy as the preverbial pig!!!

Yes i would suggest a Decent 15/30 or 15/40 such as Castrol, i found my 200tdi used to do this a few months after an oil change using normal semi - synthetic oil then i started using Castrol Magnatec Diesel 15/40 which didnt flicker the light and it also stopped the engine using oil as fast as it used to

On a high-miler/slightly worn engine it's a good idea to use a slightly thicker oil. I use 15/30 more than any other.
