I know this has been covered a good few times but the general reply always seems to be just plate over it.  Mines quite bad and I would have to do a few plates I think and weld them together!

Does anyone know of a repair panel available to weld into this lovely hole of mine.. ?  :D
Otherwise it s patchwork quilt time but I would rather it looked at least half reasonable...

Heres a pic of my lovely hole..

Cheers,

Mike

PS  I forgot to mention, MOT booked for wed so unless anyone can suggest something I can order for next day delivery on monday and then fit on tuesday night its going to have to be the patchwork option....

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!  The replacement panel was a great help!  It doesnt go high enough up really to do the job.  I made a quick hash of it this evening.  Its not pretty (its pretty damn ugly in fact) but its ready for tomorrows MOT!  I didnt even grind the weld back and tidy it up, just slapped some underseal over it and it will have to do!

A pic of my pigs ear...

hope you pass your MOT,

where did you get your panel from in the end?  was it from the place mentioned in this post?

Andy

Yep I bought it from the link above.  I actually rang them though!  They were quite helpful, they did explain that it didnt go high enough up to fix the hole I had described to them.  Its not really a repair patch but a full panel.  You have to cut it about a bit where bits of it would normally sit behind the rear quarter panel.   Worth the money though for the general shape I though.  The other side was just starting to go so that got a little patch done.  I did the boot floor sunday and tonight I was doing a trackrod end.  I was amazed how easily it came out (when does that happen on a land rover...).

You can imagine that the air was more that a little blue when I realised the craddocks had sent me one with a left hand thread and I need a right hand...

Oh well. going to let it fail its MOT in the morning and work through the fail over the following few days!  Damn thing better not fail on rust though....  :D  I will get my damn caravan on the road soon if it kills me!
