Fitting a Snorkle to a 90
« on: June 10, 2008, 12:38:32 »
Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a new off-roader and there is a 90 thats caught my eye. it has everything going for it apart from it has no snorkle. Not a major deal but wondered how easy it is to fit a snorkle to a 90 200TDI 2.5?

Many thanks

Boon
Regards,

Simon

if your not bothered about it being super watertight then it is very easy. if you are then its still very easy but can get a little messy, lol.

I have just fitted the Bearmach 'Safari' cheaper lookalike, because i don't like the mushroom type, to my 200Tdi,it comes with all the instructions and fiittings, you need to drill 8 holes but they tell you where and what size.  A good splodge of silicone around the foam gasket they supplied, screw it on and thats it ! 1/2 hour tops !,  Got it from E-bay at 95 quid plus vat & post.

Easy enough Boon.. So long as you don't mind drilling holes in your pride and joy. I see you're in Northampton (Commiserations), so if you want to pop around and have a look at mine, you're v welcome. PM me.

i got a mushroom top from britpart, solid bit of kit seems to do the job and i do prefer them from safari's but thats just preference, £72 and that was for a 200tdi, one thing i would say is its a bit of a bitch to get to fit straight but can be done with patience and a good eye, also whatever snorkel you do fit, make sure you seal all of the inside pipes aswell because water will get in any place you let it and the air intake pipes are not pre sealed so i took out wiper fluid and air kit and sealed it all off. good luck with whatever you get.
