Diesel knock

have been told i have a slight diesel knock, is it easy to resolve? and can i still drive my disco down to south of france and back in a weeks time with out SWMBO dismembering me and burying me with the  BL****Y landrover as she puts it.  :lol:
P reg 300 tdi Discovery, very slow, sluggish and standard but i am working on it.......

id find the cause of the problem
could be slipped timing
or a sticky injector
try running some injecotr cleaner through it....asuming its a derv engine, as your sig says its a v8  :-.
