Bleeding the 300tdi

Arfternoon awlll  :roll:

What's the correct (as in tried + true)  method of bleeding the cooling system on a 300Tdi Disco :-k I have had the head gasket done and it has been fine for the last week or so and I have done 1500km with it just dandy. I took a long run home on thursday, and friday I took it out for a short run round town only to notice the temp guage climb again. It didn't get out of the white zone but maybe 2/3rds the way up. I let it sit for a mo and then released the bleed screw on the thermostat housing and loads of air escaped.  :oops:  I topped the water up (leaving the header tank cap on) and restarted. All good except for no heater for a couple of minutes then hot air. [-o<  Checkit it cold again this AM and the thermostat housing was dry again. Topped it up again with not much water.
Drove it today and all seems well.  :-o I could hear hissing from the pressure cap. Is this normal? :-k

Remove the plugs from the top of the thermostat housing and the top of the radiator, take the cap off the expansion tank. Top the system up via the thermostat housing until coolant comes out of the radiator - check it flows free from bubbles. Once done refit the plug to the top of the radiator and top up at the thermostat housing until you get water out of the top of the thermostat housing then refit the plug to this.

If it continues to get air in the system, was the head skimmed? Also is the correct thermostat fitted with a bypass disc on the bottom, also the thermostat cannot be removed to run the engine as the water will not enter the radiator and circulate through the block only.
