modular wheel indentification help

hi all
have 2 sets of modular wheels 1 set is marked 7j x 16  the other 7k x 16
what is the difference does anyone know?

I believe the 'j' and 'k' refer to the bead seating style and the well style. In other words, the cross sectional profile of the rim.

after running over them with a tape measure it would appear they have different offsets!

That's something else. The letters are purely the profile of the rim.

But with different offsets, you will only be able to use them as matched pairs on each axle.

The letter is definitely teh 'bead profile'

I'm looking to buy a wheel and tyre package. How do you know by looking at the ads how much offset the rims have. I presume a standard steel wheel has zero offset but a modular rim has some offset - but how much? Is it a question of phoning up the company and asking?
