I have gone out to my landy this afternoon to find she wont start !

The stater motor is making the stater motor noise but is not turning the engine ?!

please tell me this easy to fix and cheap to fix

Sounds like the starter motor isn't engaging...   make sure your battery is up to charge.

You might be able to release it with a little percussive maintenance on the starter... but it's not really a good solution as you can damage the windings in you bash them around too much.

If it won't clear... you'll probably need to drop the starter out and give the dog gear and shaft a clean up.

I'd go with the option of giving it a few gentle taps with a hammer - might just free it up.

Mine has done it a couple of times but I think that was down to lack of use as it has now stopped as I am using the vehicle a bit more.

You may have to pop it off to have a look at the state of it,

just a quick try is to drop a jump lead from the negative on the battery to the engine, that'll rule out an earth problem
