New Toy - Engine Temp?
« on: September 09, 2008, 14:31:15 »
I have just replaced my some what delapitdated 200 series with a 300tdi auto,
which is quieter and has less rot, but the engine seems to get up to running temp very quickly compared to my old 200, which had to do a 25 miles before it reached warm, is this normal on these ?
the 300 gets to temp in a couple of miles.

Yep - as above.

Mine warms up in a couple of miles but it used to take ages as you described. Problem was the thermostat was stuck open. once I changed it for a new one all was well again.

Just needs a couple of miles/minutes.

I'd be tempted to check the thermostat. No, actually just replace it - they cost about a fiver.
