Hi all;
        swmbo has a 2002 td4, when it gets to 50mph there is a very bad vibration & sounds very loud.

Any one else had this problem ?,  thanks in advance

VCU support bearings?

Could simply be wheel balence.

Or not so simple the IRD.

Thanks for the replies, will try & get underneath during the week,  I drove it to the LRO on sunday, made a real bad noise as soon as we hit 50 sounded like something under the center chubby box was about to vibrate itself loose but as soon as we got past 60 it went just as quick as it appeared, so tried to stay below 50 or above 60 as best i could,

will let you know when I find out,

With the noise in that area I would certainly look very closely at the VCU support bearings.

Hi Barmie Brumie, you check to see if you still have a rear prop :-k a good mate of mine had the same simptoms and had a look under the car :oops: :oops:
discovery 300tdi --- name-Rufus
broke it so put 1 1/2" lift on
broke it so put 265/75/16 grizzley claws on
broke it so put KnN filter in
broke it so put hyclone in
broke it so put wheel spacers on
broke it so put kenlowe on
broke it so put tubular winch bumper on
broke it so put snorkel on
broke it so put chequer plate on
broke it so put a 12000lb winch on
broke it so put a roof rack on
