Changing The Fuel Filter

I want to change the fuel filter in my 1989 rrc but in the Haynes manual it tells me to depressurise the fuel system will I have to do this or can I just swap it over? cheers.  Ben

Start it up and pullthe fuse out of the fuel pump, or pull the pin in the inertia switch if fitted under the back of the passenger's seat.
