The Blue Pig Is Very Unwell

My beloved pig is unwell.  :(
Tinworm has got to the rear chassis legs and cross-member to such an extent it was an MOT failure, too much playing in fords, rivers and the sea me thinks. Then the gearbox developed a whine, i decided to live with it till it went bang.

Got in the old girl the other morning to take her to my mates workshop so he could cut off the old chassis legs and fit the new cross-member. Got no more than 5 yards off the drive and, you guessed it, It went BANG big style. No drive at all. Nothing forward, backward, low box, high box or diff lock.  :doh:

No doubt Mr Ashcrofts Transmissions is going to be getting a visit next week.

The plus side is, after the major engine rebuild recently and now a new gearbox on its way, she should be good for a few more years  [-o<

That's the thing with old Land Rovers, they gradually end up 100% recycled..... not one original bit in them!

Yeh, a bit like Triggers broom in Only Fools and Horses! Only had 5 new heads and six new shafts!! (something like that anyway!!)

Just a quick update. Both boxes now out and split. Transfer box is shot, nowt but rusty water in it and it sounded like a bag of spanners :doh:
Main box had a problem too, even in neutral there was loads of drag on the main-shaft soI decided to go the whole hog and replace both boxes.

I went to Ashcrofts in Lutonhttp://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/ who were very friendly and helpful.

Hoping the boxes will go in this week then i just need to get the new rear cross-member and chassis legs fitted and it should be ready for an MOT and back on the road. :dance:
