Why do they try and rip people off we to renew my insurance on my shogun as it ran out last night so tried to transfer from my 04 mondeo to it and they wanted double the amount as I got a qoute for and they would not transfer due to my wife been to young and wanted me to pay £195 for them to cancel as they can not supply me with insurance as my mondeo is going back to fiance company due to they wont fix it. so now just had to spend out another £50 deposit to be on cover and the £101.75 road tax so why should we have to pay for what they cant give

Simple answer; because they can - you have no real choice.

I have learnt a few interesting things since moving; insurance is not mandatory in South Africa (RTA insurance is effectively included on fuel) so it has to be sold only on it's merits.

Result I am insuring  house and a car for less than I was insuring either in the UK.

The government make a law that enables them to charge what they want then Gordon takes a percentage of it.

And a boat - if you can call QM2 a boat?
