Bit of a Dilemma going on here regarding which plugs i should get. in short...

Did a service didn't have a clue what they should be so a quick ask to a supposedly knowledgeable person said go for BP5ES...

Stuck them in and performance has been a little more down on gas and there is more of an obvious gap between gas and petrol. Put a trailer on up behind last weekend and i thought someone had stolen half of the horse's under the bonnet.

The taken out plugs were BPR6ES...

Now that if i have to get another new set of plugs that i should do the research first. and i'm wondering what else is out there and what does work better than a standard BPR6ES. Two of my friends have 4.6's on Gas one Carbed, one injection. Now the chap on carbs has NGK PFR6B's. and the other has a fancy 4 tip electrode bosh plugs which number evades me at the moment. or I try an Iridium tip one: The BKR6EIX IIRC.

So should i go and get a set of BPR6ES's. - Bog standard as seem to be the OE choice.
Or the Fancy Bosch one's - Seem's to be fine with his.
Or the PFR6B's - His set has done 60'000 miles with no problems.
Or the BKR6EIX's - The Iridium alternative to the above platinum's.

The Engine is your normal Bogstandard 35D 3.9EFI. and the rest of the ignition system is spot on.

Stick with what you know  ;) BPR6es are fine in mine and I was told multi-tip plugs are a waste of time on LPG (by an LPG fitter)

Well the BP5's were taken out and the tips were white so suggesting they were getting too hot.

Went for the PRF6B's Which are a standard plug for a 4.6. They are a fancy platinum type and after a quick test run the results are looking good. she really goes well on gas and the results on petrol are scary when you give it some throttle  :shock:  I'm chuffed so far, Got a little jaunt to Redruth tomorrow to see how they go.

Ditch the R, go for BP6ES if you can get them, especially on LPG.  Close the plug gap to 27 thou, they are factory set at 30 thou.

If your budget stretches then BPR6EIS, the iridium ones are good, stay set for longer, last well etc etc but mine are no faster with them in.

DO NOT fit platinum plugs with LPG, ever.

A friend is running PFR6B's in his 4.6 and that has done 60'000 miles faultlessly on gas too.
