clutch change

hello
after some mild green laneing on sunday my clutch is starting to slip, it only slips a bit as the revs only rise about 500 rpm then it seems to grip again. strange. the last car i drove with a slipping clutch rev-ed very high and only gripped when you let the revs fall.
anyway iv herd some bad things about clutches not clearing when fitted and having to do the job twice a real pain i bet
has anyone else herd about this, this includes valeo, AP and Borg&beck but not genuine, not that i can afford genuine parts
cheers mark

Well i fitted a AP clutch in mine and its fine. Been in there nearly 12 months
Dont fit valeo or borg and beck they are rubbish
Before anybody says borg and beck are not the same company any more. AP brought all the design rights

I always fit Borg & Beck clutches (so quite a few). Only once ever had a problem with one. I've never yet seen a Valeo clutch that wasn't broken as opposed to being worn out. They are made in various countries, so it's a bit of a lottery getting a decently made one.

Well after the engine coming in and out 4 times in 4 days, and eventually burning out a stuck clutch (don't ask) I have fitted an ap item, I have to admit it did seem to be well made and fit the splines perfectly and smoothly.
Don't forget the release bearing aswell, paddocks do a 3 peice kit for around £69, that will include free delivery if ordered on line, 2-3 days delivery or a £5 for next day.

just received a factory one bargain at £80 ( 160+normally) old stock only to open it and find valeo stamped on it,
ah well at least if it goes wrong i can take it to a dealer and they will replace it,
will let you know how it goes

Check the crankshaft oil seal, if it goes, the symptoms are a slipping clutch as it contaminates the clutch plate with oil.
