« on: December 06, 2008, 17:29:49 »
got home this evening and switched off ignition engine kept running at first thought it was obvious stop solenoid problem so stalled engine then i noticed that my oil light an others were still on so i disconnected the earth from battery and when i reconnected it the lights came back on including light for heater plugs which after its usual few secs went out as if ignition had been turned on except no keys in it at time any ideas on where the prob lies electrics not my thing

Is this the one that was stolen? If it was, was it hot wired? Any cut/taped wires may be touching and giving the symptoms you descibe.

if your ignition switch on the back of the barrell has melted,it will stick and the shaft that goes into the switch has either broken,or the the bit that the shaft goes into on the switch its self has broken,so it will still feel like its working, letting you turn it one way,but when you turn the key off,the switch is not operating, hope it helps mate :)

Take your stop solenoid out of the injection pump. Carefully insert a magnetic screwdriver down the hole (Oo Err Missus ). If it comes out with metal filings on it, your injection pump is on its way out.
This happend to me a few years back. The metal filings were from the swash plate in the pump which was breaking up. This would build up & occasionally prevent the solenoid from cutting off the fuel supply.

landie is into be looked at as the fault is only there if hazards are switched on so electrical fault somewhere all swithes off unless i have the hazards on then ignition stays live  all good fun
