Has anybody herd of this?
« on: March 03, 2005, 20:30:18 »
This is bizarre,
I had a problem with my 2.5TD landy passing oil up the engine breather pipe last weak, checked everything no pressure coming up from the crank case so not the piston rings. I reconnected the breather to the air intake, filled her up with oil and ran her for a while at high revs with no problems, took the head off over the weekend, the ring's and linings were fine and the head gasket wasn't showing signs of failing so assumed it was one of those things.
Today I do the 10min motorway journey, trundling along at 60, which I have been doing twice a day since it first did it then she empties 1.5 - 2 ltrs of oil up the breather pipe again.
Has anybody herd of this before?

She dose breath but not heavily for an engine with 221000 miles on the clock.
Still saved in fuel coming back on an egertons truck. Good old RAC sent me a recovery truck straight away.
Regards
Matthew

Hmmm, Now there’s a point. I'll go and consult my book as to where it is.

On a 2 1/4D its in the sump and the spring can become weak - dont know if its the same on a 2.5TD though
