Has anybody out here ever hired a kitted out vehicle to explore new zealand. Looking at going in 2011 for six to eight weeks and fancied driving round instead of back packing. Any help would be much appreciated  :)

From my experience a few years ago the only kitted out vehicles were 2 wheel drive camper vans. There is just not a lot of places that require 4x4.
I wanted to start a 4x4 business there but gave up as it was too civilised!!
Australia is a different story !!

Any 4x4 forums in NZ that can help? There was an articule in TOR recently that showed some mad lanes in NZ and keen off roaders clearing/getting through.

Scenery fantastic in NZ, if you go to Queenstown in the South Island then the jet boats are a must.

Cheers Maf
Laning patches will only keep the desire at bay for a few days, get in the mud and enjoy the banter.
