I have a plan...
« on: January 27, 2009, 22:16:26 »
Im about to buy my first 90...

I cant decide whether to get one with a 200 disco engine in done ready, or to get a old ropey one and do all the work my self.

I have done a fair bit on disco and rangys moving engines and the like.

I have a pair if disco 24 spline axles,  2 sets of tyres and a number of other disco bits.

now some questions...

Could i convert a 90 to have power steering easly when i put a disco axle and steering box on it, with the 200tdi?

what mods would i need to do to fit 35x12.50r15 is it just a 2" lift?

Is fitting a 200 really as simple as all the treads show?

If it came to it and i went the whole hog and got new galve chassis and new bulk head will i run in to problems at mot with all the new bits?

Thank you for any advise in advance

Andy

i have a galvenised chassis on mine the mot bloke said its classed as a repair as long as most of the oridgenal bitts are still on the car. i.e the engine and origanal gearbox i must admit i was swetting a bit when i went to mot it but i wouldnt know the differance if you changed the axles unless they knew thair land rovers

If you use a new chassis of the same type as the original, you will not have any problems. It is treated as a replacement part. However, if you use a second hand chassis is could loose you the identity of the vehicle.
