2.5td pajero/shogun Fuel Injector Problem
« on: February 02, 2009, 14:42:34 »
A friend just brought her swb 2.5td pajero in, seems she was having problems starting it. Turns out she'd just added a substantial amount of veggie oil to her depleting reserves of diesel and started having problems. Now not knowing much about them, I instinctively started with the fuel system, where was the bloody fuel pump...??  in the fuel tank.?  nope, somewhere on the chassis..?  nope, on the engine..?  nope, turns out it was built into the injector pump. The fuel system it seems works on a vacuum system, sucking the fuel up from the tank to the injector pump. Unfortunately, with the extra density of the added veggie oil, the pump seal blew, sucking the diesel/veggie oil mix into the sump thinning the engine oil and ..... OOPS!!!!

I'm now looking for another engine....
