nice story on bbc re 4wds
« on: February 06, 2009, 13:49:02 »
Hi, was watching bbc lunchtime news and there was an article about meals on wheels in leicestershire - the lady in charge said if it was not for all the volunteers who turned up in 4wds they would not have been able to deliver the meals today - nice shot of discovery with volunteers carrying meals.

The northants4x4 reponse team have been asked to be filmed for Anglia TV this afternoon after all of the good work and callouts they have done locally for the hospitals and services. They have done 30+ journeys around the county.

keep an eye for it!

I was out helping today. About 73 miles and 34 meals. Didn't see any TV cameras though...

I agree about the smell of the food... I think "Torture" sums it up. ;)

Gas Main works are like ants... You never see them in the winter, but once the summer arrives they appear everywhere.

I was up on the A31 hogs back last weekend when it first came helping out the polise till 3am and again the next day.
on Friday I offered again but I enquired if they would mind covering the fuel I used (just the fuel not the wear n tear) BUT I was shocked to get the reply, "sorry no we cannot make any type of payment to a civillian unless you are a business and we award you a contract to help".

therefore after happily paying out over £70 of my own money last week on fuel I have decided to sit out this week...
Nissan Patrol GR LWB and a 3rd Gen Surf for fun...

Northants4x4 response team ended up doing well over 100 runs out of the local hospitals helping the staff and running essential supplies.  Anglia TV filmed part of it and its on there website.

If you are local and want to join up then visit them here www.northants4x4.com any assistance will be welcomed!
